AMES, Iowa – Iowa State shot 61.5 percent from the floor and Marquis Gilstrap registered his second double-double with 18 points (7-9 FG) and 10 rebounds in a 84-53 victory over Tennessee State Tuesday night in Hilton Coliseum.
It marks the first time ISU shot above 60 percent from the field in a game since Feb. 17, 2004 (Georgia, 74.4 percent), as ISU remains unbeaten at 5-0. The 20-point margin of victory marks just the third time in school history where ISU won five-straight games by 20 points or more.
“What I am excited about is that we haven’t scratch our potential,” ISU head coach Greg McDermott said. “Obviously, we are shooting the ball at a very high level. Guys are taking shots that are good for them.”
