Big 12 Football – Power Rankings Week 12

The big game this week is the Bedlam game in Norman.  If Oklahoma State wins, the Big 12 should get two teams in the BCS and all bowl eligible teams will move up a slot in the bowl pecking order.  Eight teams are currently bowl eligible; Kansas would gain eligibility with a win over Missouri in Kansas City.  Texas has clinched the South and Nebraska has clinched the North.

1. Texas Longhorns – Overall (11-0) Big 12 (7-0) – BCS Ranking 3
Last week: (3) Texas 47 Baylor 14
A game in College Station is all that stands in the way for an undefeated regular season.  Colt McCoy has two games to boost his Heisman hopes.

2. Oklahoma State Cowboys – Overall (9-2) Big 12 (6-1) – BCS Ranking 12
Last week: (12) Oklahoma State 31 Colorado 28
Will Zac Robinson play this week?  The Cowboys appear to have the Sooners number this year and a win means a likely trip to the Fiesta Bowl.

3. Nebraska Cornhuskers – Overall (8-3) Big 12 (5-2)
Last week:  Nebraska 17 Kansas State 3
Nebraska has won four straight after dropping back-to-back home games to Texas Tech and Iowa State.  Will the Huskers be looking ahead to the match up with Texas?

4. Texas Tech Red Raiders – Overall (7-4) Big 12 (4-3)
Last week: Texas Tech 41 Oklahoma 13
Texas Tech was very impressive in the win over OU last Saturday.  The Red Raiders look to finish strong in Waco.

5. Missouri Tigers – Overall (7-4) Big 12 (3-4)
Last week: Missouri 34 Iowa State 24
The Tigers are starting to hit their groove with a healthy Blaine Gabbert.  A win over KU this week gets Mizzou to a respectable 8-4.

6. Oklahoma Sooners – Overall (6-5) Big 12 (4-3)
Last week: Texas Tech 41 Oklahoma 13
The Red Raiders spanked the Sooners last week in the biggest OU defeat in recent memory.

7. Iowa State Cyclones – Overall (6-6) Big 12 (3-5)
Last week: Missouri 34 Iowa State 24
Iowa State has won four more games in 2009 then they did in 2008.  The Cyclones are finished with the regular season and await the bowl game announcements.

8. Texas A&M Aggies – Overall (6-5) Big 12 (3-4)
Last week: Texas A&M 38 Baylor 3
If the good Aggies show up they can give Texas a game.  If the bad Aggies show up they may get beat by a hundred.

9. Kansas State Wildcats – Overall (6-6) Big 12 (4-4)
Last week: Nebraska 17 Kansas State 3
After a quick start in the Big 12, the Wildcats finished losing 3 of their last 4.  Kansas State finishes one win short of a bowl game.

10. Colorado Buffaloes – Overall (3-8) Big 12 (2-5)
Last week: (12) Oklahoma State 31 Colorado 28
The Buffaloes continue to play hard for Dan Hawkins, whose days appear to be numbered in Boulder.  A win against Nebraska would help Hawkins cause.

11. Kansas Jayhawks – Overall (5-6) Big 12 (1-6)

The Jayhawks are easily the most disappointing team in the Big 12.  Mark Mangino is fighting to keep his job.
