Big 12 Football – Power Rankings Week 10

It was a wacky week in the Big 12, Baylor clipped Missouri on the road and Colorado knocked off what was a surging A&M team.  Nebraska had just 180 total yards, but it was enough to take out Oklahoma.  The Missouri Tigers are the bottom team in this weeks rankings, so much for a run at the Big 12 North title.

1. Texas Longhorns – Overall (9-0) Big 12 (5-0) – BCS Ranking 3
Last week: (2) Texas 35 UCF 3
Texas won easy last week and will again this week.
Up next: (3) Texas at Baylor

2. Oklahoma State Cowboys – Overall (7-2) Big 12 (4-1) – BCS Ranking 19
Last week: (19) Oklahoma State 34 Iowa State 8
Oklahoma State didn’t have the much discussed hangover they were supposed to have.

3. Texas Tech Red Raiders – Overall (6-3) Big 12 (3-2)
Last week: idle
Texas Tech has had two weeks to prepare for the Cowboys.  It should be a good matchup.

4. Nebraska Cornhuskers – Overall (6-3) Big 12 (3-2)
Last week: Nebraska 10 (24) Oklahoma 3
The offense is so bad that the defense has no margin for error, luckily the defense shut down OU and teed up the touchdown.

5. Oklahoma Sooners – Overall (5-4) Big 12 (3-2)
Last week:   Nebraska 10  (24) Oklahoma 3
Five turnovers and three missed field goals equals a loss in Lincoln.

6. Kansas State Wildcats – Overall (6-4) Big 12 (4-2)
Last week: Kansas State 17  Kansas 10
Kansas State continues to find ways to win.  A Missouri team that lost at Baylor comes to Manhattan this week.

7. Texas A&M Aggies – Overall (5-4) Big 12 (2-3)
Last week: Colorado 35 Texas A&M 34
The Aggies are tough team to figure out.  I honestly have no idea how they will play at Oklahoma, but my gut tells me they play poorly.

8. Iowa State Cyclones – Overall (5-5) Big 12 (2-4)
Last week: (19) Oklahoma State 34 Iowa State 8
Back-to-Back twenty plus point losses can’t be good for ISU’s confidence.  A Colorado team that is surging late travels to Ames this week.

9. Colorado Buffaloes – Overall (3-6) Big 12 (2-3)
Last week: Colorado 35 Texas A&M 34
Are the Buffaloes finally hitting their stride now that it is too late? The Buffs haven’t won on the road this year and they are at Iowa State this week.

10. Kansas Jayhawks – Overall (5-4) Big 12 (1-4)
Last week: Kansas State 17 Kansas 10
What has happened to a Kansas team that had so much promise early?  If KU can get put up 20 points this week they should win, but that is a big IF.

11. Baylor Bears – Overall (4-5) Big 12 (1-4)
Last week: Baylor 40 Missouri 32
Nice win by the Bears in Columbia last week.  Nick Florence and Kendall Wright are developing chemistry.

Mizzou gave up 40 points to a Baylor team that had been averaging 8 points in conference games.
